Biography Aime Fernand Cesaire

S-a născut în 1913 la Laurain, în Martinica.
Studii la liceul Louis le Grand și la Ecole Normale Superieure.
Activist pentru renasterea culturala a negrilor, care, în spațiul cultural de limbă franceză, s-a numit "Negritude". Membru al partidului comunist francez și apoi întemeitor al partidului progresist din Martinica. Membru in paralmentul francez și primar în orașul Fort-de-France din Martinica.
Impreuna cu Damas si Senghor a intemeiat revista L'etudiant noir. In Martinica, impreuna cu Rene Menil, a inițiat revista Tropiques.
